Under the hood of the Meraki MX64W
MX64W has 250 Mbps of Throughput, and is perfect for up to 50 users. Additionally, it boasts a super-intuitive dashboard. As a result, you can securely set up branches with its Auto VPN technology in 3 clicks.
To secure a site in minutes, just add your Meraki MX64W to the dashboard. Then, enable intrusion prevention. Finally, select the threat protection level you want. That’s all there is to it!
Tell me about Meraki’s licenses. What is this, and why do I need it for my MX64W?
All current Cisco Meraki products require valid licenses to operate. It’s on a “per device, per year” basis. The MX series has two licenses. They are Enterprise and Advanced Security. These licenses are available in 1, 3, and 5 year options. You can get them through your authorized Meraki partner.
First, the Enterprise License
With the Enterprise License you’re getting excellent stateful inspection with VPN capabilities. This will do a good job of protecting your business from direct intrusion.
What is Meraki Advanced Security License?
This one offers a lot more security. It is an all-around security package that can protect you from nearly any attack. It includes Intrusion Detection / Prevention and Anti-Virus and Anti-Phishing. Additionally, you get Content / Web-Search Filtering and Advanced Malware.
Lastly, remember that without this licensing, your MX64W will cease to function. 30 days prior to your license’s expiration date, the administrators on your account will be notified. Then, another e-mail will come 3 days prior to expiration. An account expiration banner will also display in the Meraki dashboard at this time. But, you can reactivate your account at any point in the future. To do this (after it expires), just add the necessary number of valid licenses.
